An Ode To The Mister

Back in February of 2009 we brought Floating Points (aka Sam Shepherd) to the US for the first time to the Mister to play at Market Hotel on Myrtle Avenue in Brooklyn. An immediate friendship was struck, and since then, not only have his records been in constant rotation at the parties, but he invited us to over to play  in London at Plastic People. (Plans are afoot for his return to play the party later this year.) Sam has just recently released a stunning new double 12″,  The Shadows EP, on his own Eglo imprint. The opening track is simply stunning… and it’s called ‘Myrtle Ave’.

A Charm

After a blast-off of a Halloween party and an atmospheric come down on November 5,  we’re once again flying solo for this edition of the Mister, our third installment at House of Yes. You know what they say about third times.

Party starts at 10 and goes till it can’t go no more; beer’s on the house for the first hour; and if you send an RSVP to mister@mistersaturdaynight.com, it’ll be $10 before midnight.

And that’s that. We’ll see you at the Yes.

*Although we absolutely love to play host to our underage friends, the operators of the space make the rules. When we can, we do it all-ages, but for House of Yes, we’ve gotta keep it twenty-one and over.

The Zulu Walk

Justin and I first started working together back in 2008 when he was the Music Director at APT, and he invited me to have a weekly residency playing alongside none other than Afrika Bambaataa every Tuesday night. Bambaataa’s touring schedule and APT’s demise soon after meant the party didn’t last too long, but it was a thrill whilst it lasted. Needless to say the big man’s music has always been pretty special to me. I just picked this rather excellent jam up on 45. Get ready!
