Protesting Withdrawal at Mister Sunday

President Drumpf’s decision to pull America out of the Paris Climate Agreement yesterday has had us sad and angry for the last twenty-four hours. It’s beyond reason.

Climate change shouldn’t be a political issue. It’s real; it affects us all; and if we don’t address it, all of the other things we work for – equality, justice, peace – are moot. None of those things can exist without a habitable earth.

In protest of Drumpf’s withdrawal, we’re donating 10% of the profits from this Sunday’s party to Earthjustice, a legal non-profit that holds those who break environmental laws accountable for their actions. We’ll also have a place for donations at the door if you’d like to give beyond the cover charge, and of course you can give to them online.

Whether you can make it this Sunday or not, we hope you’ll also consider taking action in your own way – and we hope to see you soon.

Big Love,

Eamon and Justin

Leaves Fall in the Planetarium

We’re back for another edition of Planetarium, our immersive experience dedicated to the music we love that’s not for the dancefloor.

We’ve once again reserved an amazing private loft space with a beautiful hi-fi system, and on it, records and live music will be played to get lost in.

There are couches and chairs, and you can bring blankets, sleeping bags, pillows or anything else you’d like to make yourself comfortable. We only do a handful of reservations so that there’s plenty of room to spread out.

This session goes from 7pm to midnight on Friday, February 24th. This date is special, as it’s the release date for Justin Carter’s album The Leaves Fall. For the occasion, Justin will DJ alongside Eamon Harkin and perform live. Accompanying Justin live and playing solo lives sets are cellist Marika Hughes and keyboardist Jason Lindner. Marika has recorded with Yo Yo Ma, Tin Hat Trio and Mr. Bungle, to name a few. Jason is the longtime leader of The Jason Lindner Big Band as well as the integral keyboardist on all of David Bowie’s final album, Blackstar.

You can bring your own drinks (there’s no bar) and food, and we’ll have all the creature comforts that you might otherwise need inside so you never have to leave the bubble we’re creating.

Because we’re doing this at someone’s home, we’ll only send the location info to people who reserve a ticket in advance. So you know how to plan, we can tell you it’s not too far from Nowadays, less than five minutes from the Halsey L.

We’re looking forward to getting lost in music with you. Tickets are here.

Mister Halloween Night: The Om Supreme

msn_2016_halloween_784x1200
For Halloween this year, we decided (after one false start) we’d try for an antidote to the crazy political climate. We bring you…

Mister Halloween Night: The Om Supreme, an opportunity for you to don transcendant costumes and wash away all the madness.

Our home for the evening is a wood-floored, forty-foot ceilinged studio decked with billowing geometric patterns, a massive disco ball and a sweet, sweet soundsystem.

To start the evening, we’ll be playing blissed out listening records. Around 10pm we’ll transition the floor, so you can get lost in the dance.

Advance tickets are still important (only people who have tickets will find out the secret location), and costumes are strongly encouraged.

Our new take is one of complete acceptance, so wear what you’d like. If you wanna get fully immersed, though, think gurus, downward facing dogs and long flowing robes for your costume. (If you already bought a ticket to our Halloween party, absolutely nothing changes for you. Just drop us a line if you have any questions or concerns.)

The doors of the studio open at 8pm, and the vibe stays strong until 2am. We’re looking forward to seeing you there.

Ommmmmmm.

ps. We know $45 is a lot of money. We don’t take our pricing lightly. The reason for the high door fee is that production expenses for this venue are particularly high, and security and other staff prices go up for us (and most other people doing parties) on Halloween weekend.

Last Dance in the Great Outdoors

We’re taking it home this Sunday. It’s been a really special season out here at Nowadays, and we’re looking forward to one last dance under the moon and stars. Tickets are here. We’ll also have fifty $10-tickets from 3pm. See ya there.

Anthony Naples and Justin

tonyWe’ve got two more outdoor jams before the end of the outdoor season. This Sunday, Anthony Naples – Mister label alumnus, good buddy of the party and great DJ – is joining Justin behind the decks. After all the years of knowing each other, the two haven’t ever actually played together. We think it’s gonna be fun. Tickets are here. Come on down!
