For any MSN loyalists who dabble in sound art, this just caught our eye. The North Brooklyn Public Art Coalition is looking for a Brooklyn-based sound artist to create a large-scale installation next spring. The Coalition is offering up a $5,000 budget and help securing a public space anywhere in Williamsburg, Bushwick or Greenpoint. Submissions are due August 30, so think fast. American artist Bill Fontana’s most recent installation, hidden in the depths of London’s Somerset House, is an incredible example of site-specific sound design. The River Sounding project features more than 100 field recordings of the nearby Thames, embedded within the foundations of the riverside landmark.
