Freeki Egyptian Lover

This is a flyer from about two years ago, when we were still doing Mister Saturday Night at Santos. Why do we post it now, you may ask?

On that particular night, The Egyptian Lover, who I’d hipped to KDJ’s epic, then unreleased song ‘Freeki MF’, in this pre-party interview, came downstairs during Moodymann’s set and asked him if he’d brought it with him. Turns out Kenny had left the record at home.

The rest is history: Egypt plugged in his 808, dropped a beat, and they did an impromptu rendition on the spot. Too dark for video cameras, the moment only lived on in the minds of people who were at the party, but it inspired Moody and Egypt to link up and collaborate. Today, that collaboration is finally seeing the light of day.

Danger!

A little less than a month ago, our buddies from The Danger gave us a call. “We’re thinking of throwing a big, big party. Do you guys want to play and help us put together the bill?”

Of course we wouldn’t turn them down. The Danger has a history of throwing some of the biggest, most out-of-control spectacles we’ve ever seen; and we always love to be a part. Continue reading “Danger!”
