Sunday Mister Sunday

It’s time for another indoor Mister Sunday.

It’s the usual drill at 12-turn-13. There are plenty of windows to let the sunshine in, and there’s plenty of room on the rooftop to catch some crisp air in between dances.

We’ll have local food spot, Anderson’s 1949, serving up food, and we’ll have tables and chairs throughout the space at 3pm to hang and chat before we clear them out and crank the music up to get the dancefloor going.

The party goes to 9pm, and it costs $15; but we have a limited amount of $10 early bird tickets. You can get your tickets on our RA page. You can also RSVP at mistersaturdaynight.com/rsvp and get there before 5pm to get in for $10.

We’re looking forward to seeing you in the sunshine again.

Long Live Mister Sunday

This instagram video (courtesy of Christian Svanes Kolding – thanks Christian!) captures the energy, chaos and emotion of the last song on September 8, 2013, the last Mister Sunday ever at Gowanus Grove. You can listen to the live recording of Eamon Harkin and Justin Carter from the final two hours on our soundcloud below . The recording comes direct from the mixer and from a mic perched in the poplar trees of Gowanus Grove (which, sadly, are no more) and captures the final moments of the parties days at a very special space. Long live Mister Sunday.

The Return

We just can’t wait until the summertime.

So we’ve decided to bring Mister Sunday indoors once a month, every month from now until next summer, at the lovely 12-turn-13. There are plenty of windows to let the sunshine in, and there’s plenty of room on the rooftop to catch some crisp air in between dances.

We’ll have local food spot, The Joint, serving up empanadas and posole, and we’ll open earlier than usual so you can relax, grab a bite, and (if you’ve got ’em) let the kids run around before it gets busy. We’ll have tables and chairs throughout the space from 1pm until about 3pm, and then we’ll clear them out and crank the music up to get the dancefloor going.

The party goes to 9pm, and it costs $15; but we have a limited amount of $10 early bird tickets. You can also RSVP at mistersaturdaynight.com/rsvp and get there before 5pm to get in for $10; just keep in mind that 12-turn-13 is much smaller than Gowanus Grove, so we might sell out in advance.

We’re looking forward to seeing you in the sunshine again.

5 Hours of Eamon Harkin from Mister Sunday

A live recording from Mister Sunday on August 4th this year. Eamon played solo from beginning to end as Justin took a weekend off and we caught the whole set on tape. Here it is unedited just as it happened, clocking in at almost 5 hours. We hope you like it. Eamon is happy to respond to any track ID requests in the Soundcloud timeline if he can remember what the tracks are!

P.S. Justin played the next Mister Sunday on Aug 11 solo but recording issues meant his set was not captured. We’ll aim to get a solo set up from Mister Carter in the near future.

Thanks Again

Andrew Nimmo, our good buddy (and graphic designer) made us a video showing the subtle progression of this summer’s flyers. The tree and shadow illustrations are by Ha Ly, and the music is a regular early afternoon Mister Sunday tune from Bobby McFerrin’s Circlesongs record.
