Know It All

Most people don’t know this, but before I ever put a record on a turntable, I was a singer and songwriter. Over the past fifteen or so years, as I’ve gone down the DJing path, my singing and writing have ticked along quietly in the background, a secret to pretty much everyone.

This Friday, though, I’m releasing a song. It’s called “Know It All”. I recorded it with Cosmo D, the cellist from Archie Pelago, and Jason Lindner, the keyboardist on Blackstar, Bowie’s final album. It was mixed by Benjamin Tierney, who also worked his magic on Kamasi Washington’s The Epic.

Stereogum’s posted a nice review of the single.

I really hope you like it.

Barn Dance Deux: Anthony Naples and CZ Wang

msn_2016_nov19_a
We’re taking over the Silent Barn for four nights across November and December. If you haven’t been to Silent Barn, get excited. It’s the best. There’s a courtyard, a little indoor treehouse thing, a couple homemade video games and cheap drinks. Our sound system also sounds awesome there, and it’s all ages, like we like.

This is our second edition. Mister family member Anthony Naples will be teaming up with CZ Wang, one the coolest dudes we know and one of the musical minds behind Mood Hut. The pair will play together all evening, from beginning to end. Good news…

Get tickets here.

Saturday Night Barn Dances

msn_2016_nov-dec_aIt’s been something like eight months since we did a Saturday night party in NYC, and it’s been even longer since we had guests at a Saturday night party. So we decided to set up a run of dates at Silent Barn.

Kornél Kovács from Studio Barnhus, CZ Wang from Mood Hut, our very own Anthony Naples, and Future Times’ Beautiful Swimmers will join us for a run of four dates at the Bushwick art space. Eamon and I are going to take one night to go back to back, as we do, and otherwise, each party will feature the DJs on the bill playing together from beginning to end.

Tickets for all the dances are $20. We have no idea if these will sell out in advance, but most things we’ve done at Silent Barn have. Certainly not a bad idea to get tickets in advance.

Looking forward to seeing you down there!

Not The End, My Friend

us-0515-832783-backYoooooooooo. It’s that long weekend we’ve all been waiting for. Eamon and I will be packing the special-est of records to inspire an extra luxurious Monday morning in bed.

Holiday weekends can be busy, so it’s not a bad idea to get tickets in advance. We’ll have fifty $10-tickets at the door on the beginning of the day no matter what, though. Just come down early for those.

Also, remember if you are headed out of town – or if you’re just not ready for summer to end – we’ll be Mistering outdoors at Nowadays through October 23rd. Tickets for all those are here, and dates are to the right.

We’re looking forward to seeing you down at the ‘days soon.

Eamon Solo All Day

us-0828-858845-790497-backEvery summer, we each take a day to stretch out and play an entire Mister Sunday. This weekend it’s Eamon’s turn. Expect tough 90s house, new wave, 80s disco and records from all the other corners of his collection. Tickets are here. There’ll be fifty $10 tickets on the door before 4pm as well. Come on down!
