About Mister Sunday

Mister Sunday is the cousin of Mister Saturday Night. He wears sunglasses and likes to hang out in the great outdoors. Preferably in the sunshine.

The seasonal party takes place at Gowanus Grove – a lush, unique slice of landscape situated next to the increasingly less infamous Gowanus Canal. We haul out our big blue soundsystem, get some amazing local food vendors, set up a bar (the sangria is perfect) and offer a truly positive and joyous experience on a Sunday afternoon.

Young folks, older folks, and animals of all shapes and sizes come together to enjoy the good company, and since we start at three and end promptly at nine, there’s plenty of time to enjoy the whole shindig and still have time to get some sleep. Or to put somebody else to sleep. Or to look for another place to dance.

A Romantic Goodbye To The Grove

Over the weekend, Gowanus Grove quietly hosted its last event of the season, the wedding of Ariana Souzis and Joel Hamburger. The couple said “I do” under the trees and then canoed away into the sunset… It’s been a great summer. We hope to be out there again next year. Until then, we’ll see you on Saturday nights.

One More Mister Sunday

We couldn’t help ourselves. It’s been too fun spending our Sundays outside not to do one more Mister Sunday before we close up shop for the season. In two weekends, on September 18 (the day after we welcome Pépé Bradock to Mister Saturday Night), very special guest and hometown hero, Levon Vincent joins the boys for an Indian Summer Mister Sunday.

Unfinished Business

It’s rained (or we were told it would rain) on every single Sunday in August this year. It’s actually been the wettest August in history in New York. Pretty bad luck for us all who’ve gotten used to Mister Sunday at Gowanus Grove as a highlight of the summer (although we still made the most of it).

Well, that’s all behind us now, and we intend to go out with a bang. Justin and I will take things home at the Grove next Sunday for the closing party, playing back-to-back from 3pm to 9pm. Surely it can only be a bright and sunny day… And then, once the sun sets, we’ll have an afterparty with Optimo, the gents who should have played with us on the weekend just past, before Miss Irene paid a visit. We’ll have details of the afterparty up on the site this week. For now, rest up, take it easy, and plan for a big day and special night from the Mister next Sunday.
