Los Angeles and The Home Front

digEamon and Justin are off to the west coast on Friday night to play their first ever gig together in Los Angeles. It’s a secret loft party called Digging Deeper. (We’ve heard good things!) If you’re in La La Land, or if you know someone there, this is where you can find the info.

After LA, Eamon jumps back to NYC to play Mister Sunday solo. We filled to capacity last weekend, and we’re actually letting in fewer people this Sunday, so as to preserve a little space on the dancefloor (apologies for the tightness on the floor last weekend – we’ll try not to let that happen again), so getting a ticket for that one is a good idea.

Justin’s Album of the Week: Reg King by Reg King

REGEvery week of this outdoor Mister Sunday season, Eamon and Justin start things off by playing an entire album. This week it’s Justin’s turn. He’s chosen Reg King by Reg King. This is what he has to say about it.

I’m starting things off this Sunday with a relatively unknown but unequivocally brilliant English rock album from 1971. It’s the self-titled album from Reg King, the former lead singer of The Action, a mod group once tapped by George Martin (the Beatles’ producer extraordinaire) as the next big thing. After the mod movement fizzled, Martin moved on, but King, not losing hope, hunkered down for a few years and wrote and recorded this masterpiece. It’s largely overlooked, but it stands among the best English rock recorded in the early 70s, and that’s no small feat when you think about the titans recording then: Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Traffic, Yes, etc. I’m looking forward to hearing it on the big system Sunday!

Justin Carter: Six Hours From Mister Sunday in London, June 14th 2015

Six hours of Justin Carter’s solo DJ set at Mister Sunday in London on June 14, 2015. The mix is a perfect length for a drive from New York to DC, to fill up an entire workday (with a pause for a very long lunch), or for a slowly jogged marathon. Fun challenge: see if you can listen to the entire mix without going to bathroom. Justin told us he didn’t take any breaks for his whole set that day.

Taking Solos

Hey, folks. Hope you’re enjoying this HEAT! We’re sweating it out, gearing up for a really special weekend with two parties in two cities – one in London and one right here in New York Citay.

Eamon’s manning Mister Sunday in London, and Justin’s playing the home turf solo for the first time all summer. We’ve just posted a six-hour mix from Justin as a taste. Everything from contemporary Swedish rock supergroups to roots reggae to jump blues to big room techno is within.

We filled to capacity this past Sunday in Brooklyn, so it’s a good idea to get tickets if you’re coming. Tickets for the London Mister Sunday are a good idea, too. All our London parties have sold out over the past year.

Otherwise, Eamon’s playing some Ireland parties with our friend JG Wilkes from Optimo this weekend, and we’ve just confirmed the first Mister Saturday Night in a long time. Eamon and Justin will be joined by Gunnar Haslam for that one. Basic info is on the right. (Tickets for the Saturday will be coming soon.)
