All The Albums: A Playlist For You
This Sunday, we’re doing our last ever party at Industry City. Each week of this outdoor Mister Sunday season, Eamon and Justin (and on two occasions, their guests, Duane Harriott and JD Twitch) opened proceedings with an entire album. We’ve made a playlist of all the albums we could find on Spotify (only six of them weren’t there – good job Spotify!), including the album that Justin’s playing this Sunday to open the last dance at Industry City, Jaga Jazzist’s What We Must.

This week Eamon will be opening the Mister by playing Rhys Chatham’s ‘An Angel Moves Too Fast To See,’ in full, right as we open the doors at 3pm. This classic record captures Chatham’s dual influences and love of rock and classical minimalism, in a record that was pivotal to the pre-Giuliani downtown art and music scene. Come early to be mesmerized!
Archie and Ludd Return
Since we started the label, every record (except for our two early Anthony Naples releases) has been from a different artist. This year we’re planning to release music from some artists we’ve already featured, and we’re starting that push with General Ludd and Archie Pelago. Both of their releases are out now.
The first, which you can preview above, is from Archie Pelago, who did the second Mister Saturday Night Records release. They’re a trio made up of a cellist, trumpet player and saxophonist; and all of them works the knobs. The A Side, Clammy Customer, takes dozens of twists and turns, weaving in vocals by the always excellent Gabriel Garzon-Montano; and the B Side, Madame Suede Nightshade, was apparently made with us in mind (check the initials). Both sides are tried and tested on our dancefloor and cut at 45rpm for maximum oomph.
The second, which you can preview below, is by General Ludd, a pair of guys based in Glasgow (though one is originally from New Jersey, and the other is originally from Canterbury). This record is a more left field turn than their first, but, we can assure you, both tracks will break discerning dancefloors wide open.
Fire At The Barn – No Saturday Party This Weekend
Folks,
You may have heard that there was a fire at Silent Barn this past weekend. The folks there are still working hard to make the space ready for events, but unfortunately that won’t happen before this weekend, which means we’ll have to postpone the forthcoming Mister Saturday Night with Justin, Eamon & Gunnar Haslam.
We’ve been trying to locate an alternative venue to keep the party happening, but it was just too tricky at such late notice so we’re going to take a rain check on this one and hopefully make it happen again at some point down the line. If you bought a ticket in advance expect to see a refund from Resident Advisor before the week is out.
The good people at Silent Barn are experiencing some hardship as a result of the closure so if you’re interesting in helping them out there’s a couple of channels you can use:

– To make a financial contribution go here. (Financial contributions will help with the resident’s material losses and to cover Silent Barn’s loss of income until they can reopen to the public).
