Born This Way

It’s Brooklyn Pride Week.

And we are proud to celebrate our LGBTQ friends by giving $1 from every ticket sold this Sunday to the Ali Forney Center, a shelter and support center for homeless LGBTQ youngsters with a location not too far from our summer home in Sunset Park. To read a little bit more about AFC or to find out about volunteering for them or making a direct donation, check here.

At the helm of the party, as usual, are Eamon Harkin and Justin Carter, who’ll be playing all kinds of records to make you happy you were born this way (no matter what way you were born). And then, of course, the quintessential Mister Sunday cherries on top: huaraches, pizza, sangria, beer, sunshine and a disco ball.

Tickets and all the other info you need to know are here. We’ll see you this Sunday.

The Times They Are A Changin’

us-0608-598513-333445-back
Hey there.

If you came down on Sunday, we hope you had a good time. We had a ball. The dancefloor sounded better than ever; the sunset was beautiful; the energy was amazing… and this song! Thank you!

There are a few things we’re working on for this week to make the party better, and we wanted to let you know about them.

1. TIME: The first and biggest change is timing. We’re starting the party at 3pm and going until 9pm (just like it used to be). It’ll give us an extra hour of party time overall, and it’ll help us make sure the door isn’t slammed from the moment we open.

2. TICKETS: If you were there this past Sunday, you know buying a ticket is a good idea. We had to close the doors to non-ticket holders early, and the line got long. This week we’re increasing our capacity to process ticket-holder and non-ticket holder lines, but advance tickets do get preference. If you purchase a ticket, there is a separate line on the 37th Street side of our entrance, and that line, though it may look long sometimes, will move quite quickly. The line for non-ticket holders is on the 36th Street side. You can get advance tickets here.

3. RSVPS: We’ve realized that our RSVP system doesn’t really work now. Because the line can create a situation where we’re not sure who’s arriving at what time, it gets confusing. We’re going to kill the RSVP system. The price will be $15 at the door, but do remember that there are always some $10 tickets available in advance. (They’re sold out for this Sunday but still available for all the subsequent weeks.)

4. BATHROOMS: We’re dedicating all the bathrooms in the 36th Street side of the space (to your left when you walk in the gates) to women. That means ten stalls that are solely dedicated to ladies. Boys, your bathrooms will be on the 37th Street side of the space (to your right when you walk in the gates).

5. DANCEFLOOR: We were surprised that even though our dancefloor is bigger than ever before, it still got crowded. Remember we don’t allow photos, calls, texts, tweets and any of that stuff on the dancefloor. We’ll have some staff members there to politely enforce that this week, so we can make sure that everyone on the dancefloor is focused on dancing.

If you were there and have any additional suggestions, please drop us a line at ask@mistersaturdaynight.com. We really do want to know what you think.

Otherwise, we’re looking forward to getting back to it on Sunday. We’re psyched to be doing this every week again!!!

Thanks for hanging with us. We’ll see you Sunday.

Mister Sunday In London

MSN_2014_May11-V4A

The Mister lands in London again…

We’ve brought Mister Saturday Night to the Big Smoke a few times, but this will be the first time Mister Sunday has happened anywhere outside of Brooklyn.

The setting for the occasion will be Oval Space, where there are big windows to let the sun stream onto the dancefloor and there’s a nice outdoor area where you can catch some fresh air. We’ll deck the place out with furniture to make it feel comfortable; we’ll hang some balloons to make it feel festive; we’re linking up with some local London food purveyors so you can grab a bite between dances; and there’ll be a ping pong table or two.

Eamon Harkin and Justin Carter will play records from beginning to end, and there will even be a merch stand with records and tees, just like when we’re back home in Brooklyn.

The party’s running from 4pm to midnight, and it costs £10 in advance and £15 at the door.

We’re looking forward to seeing you on the dancefloor. Until then…

Sunday Shea

MSN_2014_Apr13 V2A(1)

The Mister returns for another indoor Sunday afternoon jam, this time at Shea Stadium. Eamon and Justin will bring the tunes; there’ll be food; and the drinks will be cheap – you know how we do. Shea Stadium has a nice balcony for catching rays, and whether spring chooses to show its face by then or not, it’ll be nice and warm on the dancefloor.

One thing to note: Shea Stadium’s name is a bit deceptive. It’s not nearly as big as the former Mets ballfield that bore its name, so getting tickets in advance is a good idea. We’ll sell out for sure.

That’s about it. We’ll see you on the dancefloor.

Silent Sunday

MSN_2014_Mar16-V3

Mister Sunday lands at Silent Barn, the best little DIY gallery/barber shop/record store/party space in all the land. There will be food; drinks will be cheap; Justin Carter and Eamon will play those Sunday afternoon and evening tunes; and fun will be plentiful. Only thing is that Silent Barn is really small, so get a ticket quick, because this will sell out.
