Gunnar Haslam is a long-time regular at The Mister. By day he’s a scholar of particle physics and signal processing, and by night he makes very heady music, some of which has made its way onto our very first ten-inch release.
Keita Sano is from Okayama, Japan. He was born in 1989; he studied ceramic spinning in Okinawa for a short spell; and he is left-handed. He discovered Mister Saturday Night in the vinyl bins of his local record shop, which inspired him to make and send us these three tunes. We’re happy to present them to you.
General Ludd is Rich McMaster from New Jersey and Tom Marshallsay from Canterbury. The guys met at the Glasgow Art School, where Rich studied environmental art and Tom studied fine art. Their first collaborations were interactive sound installations, but that quickly gave way to all night music making sessions, some of which resulted in this fine twelve-inch. Both tracks have already become staples at Mister Saturday Night parties. Eamon tends to play the heady, “Brothers and Sisters,” and Justin tends to play the absolutely crushing, “Woo Ha,” but we’re sure you’ll like them both.
Boya is Davin Conaty, a young musician from the Northwest of Ireland. He grew up playing classical piano and trombone, which he left behind at the age of sixteen to play drums in a punk band. Now he’s moved onto machines – and somehow he’s managed to extract as much feeling from them as live instruments. This is his first EP on vinyl. We are proud to present it.
Lumigraph is Gareth Smyth, a young Dubliner who spent the summer of 2012 living in New York City. He filled his time recording sounds of the streets, making music in a small apartment and going out to parties, which is how he met the Mister Saturday Night guys. The songs on the Yacht Cruiser EP were all recorded in Brooklyn, and they are his first tracks ever to be pressed on vinyl.
