It’s A Family Affair

MSN_2013_Apr6_Anthony2It’s a family affair. Justin and Eamon are joined by Anthony Naples at the House of Yes. Otherwise it’s the usual drill: $10 before midnight with an RSVP to mister@mistersaturdaynight.com; $15 otherwise; with strong suggestions for you to get a ticket in advance.

Don’t let our brevity fool you. Even though we’ve got a routine, we still keep it special every time. We’ll see you soon…

Mister 99

Mister Saturday Night started in a Manhattan club in early 2008. A few parties in, we forged a new path, turning the Mister into a one-of-a-kind, grassroots experience. We rent a private party space, set up our own soundsystem and bring in our own friendly team to work the door and the bar – to make it feel like home.

Considering what goes into each party, a hundred feels like a milestone for us. We’re celebrating with two special editions of the Mister – Mister 99 and Mister 100. For tonight’s edition – Mister 99 – we’re settling in at the House of Yes. Jeffrey Ralston, who decorated our most recent New Year’s and Halloween parties, is decking out the space extra special with inflatables and lights.

Musically, we’re looking to the future. Joining residents Eamon Harkin and Justin Carter behind the decks are Anthony Naples and Jay Daniel, two young twenty-somethings already etching their mark into contemporary dance music. Anthony’s Mad Disrespect EP was the first release on our label. Not so coincidentally, Mister Saturday Night was the first party Anthony ever went to. Jay Daniel is a DJ from Detroit. He does a monthly party with Kyle Hall at a place called Motorcity Wine. Anyone who’s heard him play says he’s great, and when people say that about someone from Detroit, we pay attention.

Beers are on us for the first hour of the party, and, as a special thanks to you, we’re keeping the price low. It’s $10 to get in all night long, and there are even a few $5 advance tickets for early birds up above.

Put those celebrating shoes on. It’s going to be a good night.

Eamon and Justin In The House

Eamon and Justin take to the decks all by themselves for the first time since February. You stretch out, they’ll stretch out, we’ll all stretch out.

Jacques, Eamon and Justin. And Slayer.

Our next party will be on the 28th at House of Yes with Justin, Eamon and special guest Jacques Greene from Montreal. Jacques is a young wunder-producer who defies genre classification. And although we can’t put our finger on exactly what he’s making, what is for sure is he goes heavy on the R&B vocals, and we have absolutely no problem with that.

We’ll be serving beer on the house from 10 to 11, and admission is only $15 before midnight if you RSVP to mister@mistersaturdaynight.com. (It’s $20 otherwise.) We’ve got nice chairs to relax in, a full bar, a disco ball, and a soundsystem and dancefloor that will hold you oh-so tight. And if you want a shirt or a record, we’ll have those for sale, too.

Mr. And Ms. Saturday Night: April 14th

We caught this nice pair stretching out and getting down in a more spacious area of the House Of Yes two Saturdays ago. Meet Avi and Miss Vanilla, equally dressed to impress in their own clothing lines!

MSN: What brought you here?
Avi: Actually, my friend, Vanilla, she invited me. I was going to her house tonight and she was was like, “Yo, you wanna go to a house party?”  and I said, “Why not!”
MSN: So you’ve never been to one of these parties before?
Avi: I’ve been to house music parties before but not this particular one.
MSN: Any one or two that you remember particularly?
Avi: Name-wise, no! It’s always been random for me.
MSN: What do you like about the parties you go to, or what do you like about house music?
Avi: The beat, and the groove! It just continues on and on and on. Like, “house music all night long.” It’s literally that!
MSN: Do you listen to dance music at home?
Avi: Yes, I definitely do.
MSN: Do you download mixes, or just listen to whatever you find?
Avi: Mostly whatever I find, because I find that music is so deep, and there’s so many artists out there, that it’s so hard to keep up, you know what I mean? So I just try to download whatever I find here and there.
MSN: What are your interests, passions?
Avi: I just graduated, I’m a graphic designer. I have a little clothing brand, it’s called Contemporary Negro. But that name might change in the future though.
