Thankful and Thoughtful

I got to be. Happy Thanksgiving from the Mister.

Big Time Sensuality

Rob Cortes, a gent who came down to a few Mister Sundays over the summer, passed me a CD with a few songs on it after a party. It was chock full of good stuff, but one track in particular really blew my mind. It was a version of Björk performing Big Time Sensuality accompanied only by organ and tabla. I’ve been trying to find the source ever since, and today I found it… That’s Talvin Singh on the tablas and Guy Sigsworth on the organ, by the way. Can someone please press this to vinyl?

Roses Kings Castles

Found this one digging around the internet yesterday. The band was started as a side-project for a former member of Babyshambles, Adam Ficek. Super cool stuff.

Just Say Yes

DUE TO ILLNESS, SOUND STREAM WON’T BE PERFORMING WITH US THIS WEEKEND. WE’RE WORKING ON A MAKE-UP DATE WITH HIM NOW, AND THE PARTY GOES ON THIS WEEKEND AND THE PRICE HAS BEEN REDUCED by $5.

The weather is getting colder, but the Misters just keep getting warmer. We’re gearing up for a second round of get-down at House of Yes, a simultaneously intimate and grandiose space that feels just right. Classic hardwood floors, a cozy lounge area, and a disco ball hung from thirty feet up are just the beginning. Just say “Yes!” Holding it down on the gravity-defying turntables for the entire evening are, of course, Justin Carter and Eamon Harkin. Arrive early, and enjoy the first hour of beer on the house.

Finally, some parting words from Mister Albert Camus: “Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.” What he said.

Off-Topic: The Letter

No, it has nothing to do with Halloween or space, but can we all just take a minute to appreciate how amazingly Joe Cocker, Leon Russell, Jim Gordon and company were nailing it back in 1970?
